Canoeing & Kayaking River Trips - More Pictures

We offer 3 hour, 4 hour, and 7 hour Self-guided canoe and kayak trips down the French Broad river. We strongly urge you to make a reservation, as we have limited availability, and our trip times book up fast!

All sections we run trips on are all class 1 water (which is the mildest class of rapid) and below. This makes the river a great trip for beginning paddlers and children, or anyone seeking a relaxing river trip. The flows in this section of the French Broad are considered gentle, but we do have several fast-moving shoals and sharp river bends, all part of a natural river environment.

Trip fees are listed to the right, and include Lifejackets, paddles, canoe or kayak, shuttle service to and from the river, free parking, use of facilities, river map, and safety orientation and instruction. Gratuities are not included in the price.

• Only single kayaks are available.

Maximum in canoe is 2 adults and 2 small children.

First 2 people in a canoe each ride at the listed rate. Additional fee required for a third person in a canoe ($20)

You must arrive at least 45 minutes ahead of your reserved trip time. We watch a safety video at 30 till the time of departure, and you must be present for this video to go on the trip.

• Everyone must fill out a release form- Anyone under the age of 18 needs a Parent or Legal Guardian to sign theirs. Anyone over 18 can sign their own.
• Everyone must have appropriate shoes. NO FLIP FLOPS
• There is NO ALCOHOL allowed on river trips or on premise.

After the safety video, your river host will outfit everyone with appropriately sized lifejackets (yes, you are required to wear your lifejackets) and paddles, and load everyone into a van for a short 1 mile drive to the put-in location. Upon arrival there, he or she will unload your boats from the van, and give you a quick safety orientation and instruction before helping you into your boats and into the river!

River trips end at one of the three take-outs. Hannah Ford is the first take-out and is the location of our canoe camping facilities. Picnic tables and port a-johns are available there. Those of you continuing down stream to Island Ford or to Hap Simpson, be sure to stop at Hannah Ford for lunch and stretch your legs before continuing down stream.

After arriving at your take-out location, your river host meet you there, load up your boats, and drive everyone back to our shop.
