Traditional
Mountain Sports Camp Staff
Devin
Gentry is our Director of Youth Programs and Instruction.
He grew up spending all of his free-time outside tromping
through creeks, exploring the nearby woodlots, and camping
under the stars. Well, not that much has changed! His passion
for the outdoors brought him to the area, where he attended
Brevard College, played varsity soccer, and earned a degree
in Environmental Studies. During the public school year,
he leads youth on environmental learning expeditions in
Dupont State Forest and Pisgah National Forest for a local
non-profit called Muddy Sneakers. Devin has kayaked and
canoed all over the Southeast with his favorite runs being
the Gauley River, Section 4 of the Chatooga River, and when
the water is up, the steep gradient and challenging rapids
found on the North Fork of the French Broad. He has also
worked as a raft guide on glacially fed rivers in Oregon
and Washington, and paddled in Central America. He is certified
in Wilderness First Aid and CPR, as well as Whitewater Rescue.
