Traditional Mountain Sports
Archery Camp

Archery is an all time favorite in traditional mountain sports. Safety is the underlying theme for the entire day while our instructor’s enthusiasm for the sport is sure to show!
We’ll give a demonstration of how local Native Americans made their bows, arrows, and arrowheads using only what they found in the forests around them. Throughout the day, campers will be taught how to recognize the signs left by animals, and how to identify the flowers and plants around them.

Campers will be introduced to traditional longbows, recurves, and more modern compound bows. After learning a bit about how arrows are propelled and their magical flight through the air, we’ll head to the target range. Our knowledgeable instructors will teach each camper how to have a steady arm and proper shooting technique while aiming for the bulls-eye.

After a peaceful lunch by the river, it’s time for a little friendly competition! Putting our new found skills to the test, we’ll walk the rolling hills found on our 3-D archery course and shoot at various animal targets found in realistic settings.
